Illegal mining by Adivasi (tribal) communities at the Loha mine in Hazaribagh District. Families work together to collect coal, produce coke by burning the coal and ferry it it to distribution points on the highway between Hazaribagh and Ranchi. This piece work is dangerous and unregulated. The coal is mined from the land beneath which the family teams work.
